If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

Lunch

Hey their fairy friends! I completed the story a day in May Challenge. It was so much fun I hope I can do it again next year. I didn't complete a story everyday- but I managed 10 short pieces in all with at least six I'm pretty proud of, one is in submission. I have some revising to do, but that will be done by the end of summer.

Here is a short piece I've decided to share with you. I had to use certain words that pertained to food to complete the challenge.

Lunch
by Summer Ross

Alice squirmed in the plastic chair in an attempt to keep from upchucking the sludge she managed to eat. The lumpy blubber flowed like ooze down to her stomach and the after taste had a nasty film. She grabbed the side of the table as her friends laughed at a joke.

She had no idea who made the lunch considering she showed up late due to a rendezvous with Charles who offered her a quick frisson of seeing him half-naked in the sunlight of her bedroom window.

Her stomach flopped in protest of the food mixed with her rumble in the sheets. Alice tried to squelch down the saliva in the back of her throat but before she could even stand to run to the bathroom a loud burp escaped from her lips and the table of people fell silent.

What are you working on?
I updated my blogfest tab please feel free to check what is up for June.

That was a good short piece. I wonder if her stomach problems really stem from the nasty porridge-like substance she ate or her tryst with Charles. Whatever she's trying to keep stuffed down obviously has no intentions of staying quiet.

Right now, I'm working on a horror short story. Hopefully, I will have it finished by Friday. Fingers crossed!

Hi, Summer.

Well, you certainly have some great description and a strong beginning, middle, and end.... Well done!

I am currently in edits with my second novel. They are coming along well, but I get distracted easily. It always happens to me an all my final edits. When you at the fine tuning stage, those little tweaks take time to figure out.

Have a great Thursday.....

Great short piece! Although I have to say, I feel bad for Alice.

Great story Summer. Strong and written with an increasingly mature style :D You have achieved a great body of work during May.

Re: Your comment on my post. It does sound like you're buried in books for the summer. So this comes first over anything else! But when you do read my memoir, I'd love to have you post a review of it especially on Amazon.

This is a startling little story. Poor Alice. Sounds like she got herself in a predicament. Nicely written.
