If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

Insecure Writers Post

Rejection: This makes #  18 in total. Two more to go before I have all 20 for my end of 2011 collage.

Word of encouragement to others:
"Sometimes it's helpful to remember that every writer sits down to a blank page and struggles with their writing. And even the best writers have suffered their share of rejection." ~ Jade Tyler

From the Narrative magazine (nonfiction submission)

Dear Summer Ross,

Thank you for entering “Rooms” in the Spring Contest. We were grateful for the opportunity to read and consider your work, and we regret that your entry was not one of our winners or finalists this time.

An announcement of the winning stories will soon go out to the magazine’s readership, and in early November, we will publish the winning stories, which include the works of notable new and emerging writers.

We continue to look for engaging new works to publish, and we hope you will keep Narrative in mind for your work in the future.

Again, thank you for your entry, and please accept our kind wishes.

Sincerely,

The Editors

Sorry about the rejection. We've all faced it. The important thing is continue to submit and believe in yourself. Great quote.

Oh--I'm so sorry! I hate rejections... We DO need to build up tough skin though, don't we? I take it you wrote a short story? Are there other places it might be appropriate for? Have you had feedback on it? I figure those are the two things to do with it... find some help improving it or if it's good already, just find a different venue.

Oh, no. Rejections are horrid. Sending you virtual hugs.

Um, good luck with your collage...sounds strange to say good luck about something like that, but I love your attitude towards it.

That's a great quote and so true. Writers all start out the same way.

And that rejection is promising. They see something there and would like for you to submit something else in the future. :)

I must say, though, that's a rather kind rejection. Kinda like a publishing equivelant of "It's not a good time for me, but let's be friends..."

I'm so sorry. The rejections hurt, but at least you are putting your work out there (but I know how you feel with the rejections). (hugs)

I try to look at the bright side of things. When you finally get published (and you have to believe someday it will happen), this rejection will help you to appreciate your victory. Keep writing and never give up. Best of luck.

Suffer and rejection, two words we as writers are all too familiar with. Ah the rejection letter. I could wallpaper my house with them.

Your stories will find new homes. Yes they will!! :-) All the best, take care x

Sorry about the rejection. I hate them too, even the polite ones, although I've come to appreciate at those more since I've had a few really bad ones like "don't send us more of your writing until you edit it for errors." Ouch. I thought I had . . . turns out I sent them the wrong file . . . oops, my big bad.

Just keep writing, believe in your dreams and your talent, and keep writing.

It's all part of what goes in the scrapbook of a real writer. Unfortunately. :/ But just think how much better these letters will make the acceptance ones feel!

It hurts, but it can also push us to continue. Keep at it...xXx Great quote~

Two more to go! Great attitude Summer. Besides, can't ever get an acceptance letter if you give up, right?

A rejection only means something if you stop writing because of it. Otherwise, it's just an opinion, and you know what they say about those. . .

LOL - I like Will's comment. You should take a picture of your collage when it's done.

Great quote!

I'm sorry to read about the rejection. Hugs!

I'm sorry. Rejection is so awful, but I like the idea of a collage. Rejections should make us stronger, not more timid. :) Let's hear it for perseverance!

Great quote, and I'm sorry about your R. However... I don't even have one of those (or a chance of one) yet so right now, I am looking up to you and bowing down at your feet :)

Rejections are the devil, aren't they? I try to move on after receiving one and hopefully I'll get something from them that can improve my writing. Great post! <3

That was a kind rejection. I stopped counting mine.

So sorry about the rejection. :( But if your blog posts are any indication then you are a phenomenal writer!

Fairy fiddles!! What are we going to do when you do get published and we know you will.

Sorry really. Want to see me stick a pencil up my nose? :)

Sorry to hear about your rejection.

Lisa Gardner once told me that rejections happen but every day you keep on writing, you ultimately win.

It might not take the sting away right away but it's a nice thought for later on.

I am sorry to hear about the rejection, but that you keep putting yourself out there is fantastic. Good luck!

Love that quote.

Sorry about the rejection, but I know you'll just get up and going till you get accepted :)

Would like to invite you and your readers to take a look at The Rule of Three Blogfest ---a month-long extravaganza in the fictional town of Renaissance this October, with some great prizes, comment love, and of course, a lot of exposure and constructive feedback for your writing.

Any genres and all sorts of characters welcome at the town of Renaissance! Hope to see you there :)

I have yet to win the L Ron Hubbard contest. Hold your head up. I'm sure I have way more than 20 rejections. It toughens us up for the reviews, which are in many ways worse.

Keep at it Summer. You'll get there. As long as we don't give up, victory is ours ... some day. :)

Aw, so sorry! But chin up! 18 isn't even that many... I know you don't want to hear that, but it's true! Don't give up, and you'll succeed eventually.

I heart comments~~ You all Rock my world!
