If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

Why I write blogfest ENTRY

Going with this weeks blogfest flow I am participating in Kayeleen's Why I write Blogfest.
This week is a treat to myself for working so hard in my Summer Classes.

Here is why I write:

I write to let go of my stress. Sometimes just the feeling of a pen in my hand scribbling aimlessly on paper drifting in and out of words relaxes me. The ache in my back slides down the pen to disappear in stark white sheets.

I write to express emotions. Sometimes I can't cry, all I can do is write and write until my hand cramps and I have pages of fear, regret, or happiness sitting in front of me.

I write to enjoy new places, ideas, and characters. I enjoy trying my hand at all the little butterflies gliding through my thoughts whispering ideas.

When I write stories- I write in hope- Hope that someone will enjoy it someday. Hope that a reader can relate to my characters feelings. Hope that I will create something I can be proud of.

And honestly no matter how awful it reads to me, or how many mistakes I make- writing is the one thing in this world I can do just for me. I can choose to share or keep it secret and that choice is a freedom.

This is why I love writing, too. If I don't want to share it, I don't have to share it. Great post!

'When I write stories- I write in hope-'

I love this, Summer. Very nice.

I can totally understand what you're saying Summer, except the back ache sliding down the pen. I'm afraid, the act of picking up a pen gives me finger cramps. Gimme my keyboard I say! :-)

I love this! Writing is the thing I do just for myself, too. It lets me explore things I have experienced and felt.

Thanks for joining the blogfest.

I write to see adventures I've not read. (Does that make sense?)

Fabulous reasons, Summer. You remind me of stressful times when I would take a pen to paper at wee hours of the morning, because I couldn't sleep. I then started telling myself stories at night and it'd put me to sleep. Now I write them down. :)

Greetings, Summer! I love the tactile way your express your writing experience, and admire you for still going old school, pen on paper.

Writing is indeed a freedom, a wonderful one.

Nice to e-meet you through this blogfest! Writing in Flow

Oh I like the 'share or keep a secret' idea too :O)

You just about covered it all, Summer. I like the part about hope the best! Sometimes, after pouring put all the bad stuff, I tell myself, "Enough!" And that helps me look on the bright side of things...and that gives me hope.
Thanks for the post. Nice meeting you!

Right on, Summer! I also write to express emotions. There was a point in my life when I was hurting a lot and had no one to talk to. I wrote pages after pages of words and it was my relief.

Thanks for sharing your reasons! They are great ;)

What a lovely perspective...I like the ability to use writing to emote, even instead of crying. Very cool.

Those are great reasons to write, and I feel very much the same. Writing is so cathartic, and it can be as personal and as public as you want. :)

I think you hit on several of the reasons I write - and you've expressed the sentiments well. Thanks for sharing this.

I love how your reasons are stated simply, but you explain them with such a poetic voice. Really lovely.

Very valid reasons my friend and the freedom is the point isn't it?! The ability to put in words what heart does sing and know that song is all your own. :)

Great answer!

Writing also releases my stress. Sometimes I get so used to it that I take it for granted. Until I can't write for a few days.

All excellent reasons for writing and well put. I wish the back thing would work for me, I might get more done on those painful days.

Yes, Summer. Writing is always there for us. Something we can always do no matter how young or how old we are. You keep writing, and you can only get better and better at it. Never give up!
