If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

Cold Magic

I found a new genre to read and write in -Steampunk. Two weeks ago, I knew nothing about it and now I have written several short pieces related to the genre just to try it on for size and read two books.

The one I am currently reading is called Cold Magic by Kate Elliot.
I was surprised at how in depth the plot and characters are, I haven't been able to put it down. If you are interested in magic mixed in era of Victorian like charm with some science fiction on the side, I'd highly recommend reading this book. I'll be buying the rest of the trilogy as soon as I can. I'm fascinated by this authors writing style and truly impressed.

The first steampunk novel I ever read was by China Mieville. It blew my mind at the time, I'd never read anything quite like it.

Then earlier this year I read Morlock Night by K.W. Jeter, the man who coined the term steampunk. It did not blow my mind and it was a fairly boring tale but at least he gets the cred for the term steampunk.

I recently dipped my toes into the steampunk writing genre too. I like it and may do some more writing in that area.

So many interesting genres and so little time! :)
