If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

20 rejections for 2011

First- I want to reach 20 rejections in 2011. Once I have hit this mark I will make my collage. I'm not sure what all I am going to do with it yet, perhaps I will find a place on my wall to remind myself what I have gone through to get where I am.

Second- I am going to have at least three new stories written.

Third- I am going to keep doing movie nights with my children.

Fourth- I plan to complete my Bachelors in English and start towards my Masters degree.

Fifth- Continue doing open mic nights.

Of course this is not all of my goals, but it is a start on big ones I wish to accomplish. I have a lot of little ones that I know I can meet because I do them every year. What is one goal you wish to accomplish? Please tell me in the comments I'm curious to know.

Those sound like great goals for the year. Mine...well I shoot high. I want to get nothing but A's for the next three semesters, and I want a contract with somebody by the end of the year.

Will there be any origami out of these rejections? :D It could be a focal point of sorts...

awesome--open mic nights! I wish my girls would do movie nights w/me, but they're too antsy. And I think it's a good goal w/your queries b/c then you have a better chance of being picked up~ whee! best of luck. <3

Good luck with all your goals. You're doing a lot!

And who knows, maybe you won't get 20 rejections.

Summer, make a fantastic fairy out of the letters.

Goals, hmmm. To have my short story or novel picked up or a lighter note to win a contest with a fantastic book as the prize. That might be a lot easier. Then again ....

Great goals, Summer. Mine are similar as we also do open mics and I'd love some pieces, however small, to be published.

I love your first goal, achieving 20 rejections in 2011. On first reading it might seem negative, but to receive rejections you need to submit. And if you may just find that all those rejections you expect don't come along!

I like the rejection idea. I hate those things and to turn it in to art is to go forward in a positive way.

I will write, the write and yet write some more. I also want a dedicated spot for my art.

My one goal is to really try and focus!!! As I've been far to scatty brained lately!

i like the idea of getting rejections, and measuring it by that. because at least that means that people are reading. you are bound to find someone who wants your writing if you keep submitting!
