If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

FF: Blogger sins

Q: Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you've done, that as you gained more experience you were like -- oops?

I've done  a whole bunch of things wrong over my first year or so blogging. The one thing I didn't do right- commenting.  I had no idea how to go about commenting on other peoples blogs, how to follow them, and so I just didn't. It took a while for me to figure it out but I had some friendly bloggers along the way willing to help me and were patient enough for me to ask questions.

Whats your beginning oops?

I think I'm committing more blogger sins now than when I first started. I was all over the place when I started, a gung ho blogger, and now I'm a lazy one LOL.

It took me a while before I got comfortable enough to start leaving a lot of comments. I'm pretty shy and am more used to lurking than expressing my thoughts, but starting my blog has really gotten me to open up. Thanks for stopping by this week! I'm following you back via GFC :D

I think it's great that you have started commenting more - I know I always love it if I have a new comment on one of my blogposts :)

I'm a new GFC follower, here's my FF post for this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

That's good that you had others to follow. Thanks for visiting my blog and following. I've followed back via GFC. Happy Friday! :D

I did the same thing. I just assumed people would read my blog because it was there. It took about 6 months before I realized what a follower was.

Summer,

Someone might have already told you this, but I saw from another comment on another blog you didn't know how to link to sites in the comments?

I use this website here: http://www.ecalpemos.org/2011/03/how-to-put-link-in-blog-comment.html

And I put my link in the first box and whatever I want to call my link in the second and it generates html codes that you just paste where you want in the comment box.

Hope that helps if someone didn't already fill you in!

I am a new follower, also!

In the beginning, I followed a bunch of science fiction sites, focusing on my target genre for my book. Most didn't feel like connecting with a new blogger who was still a long ways from the debut of his first book. But when I just started making friends with everyone, things happened.

My major "Oops!" moment was when I realized I was promoting my blog too much in comments, i.e. asking for people to follow, visit, etc., without enough substance in said comments to justify it.

I go through peaks & troughs with commenting - I tend to sometimes find it a struggle to get around to many blogs at all, and other times I'm highly motivated to be all over the place.

I admit I am not the best inter-acter but I think it all comes down to confidence . . FF is always a tough one for me and I think that's why I usually dip out . . and hence don't have many followers!! Vicious circle lol!!!!

I'm not always that great with commenting on other blogs. Sometimes I go around just commenting on others I hardly do.

Thanks for stopping by my FF. Following back!

Yes, and I really hate the way blogger's commenting system is. Sure you can comment on a blog/post but when you reply to that comment the system doesn't let the commenter know that you've replied. It took me a while to find and install a different commenting system that email's the person letting them know you've replied :) I'm following back, Thanks so much for stopping by!

But, Summer, you've accomplished so much during the past year. I'm in awe of all that you do.

My oops! was I didn't know much about computers and if I'd known probably wouldn't have begun blogging. So, I guess ignorance is bliss. But I still wish I knew more.

I commit blogger sins all the time, the biggest of which is lurking. It is due to the generosity of the community that my blogs survive at all.

This is a kind, helpful community! My oops is not being consistent with my blogging. Still trying to find my voice. :)

Have a wonderful week!

Hmm... good question. I don't know, you know? I know word verify is a huge sin in some peoples' books... I used that--LOL! :D

I was so clueless when I started. I think not branching out and continuously meeting new people is a mistake. And you have to learn to interact. Despite it's label, it's another form of social media.
