This is my last big weekend before the end of semester. My stomach is tied in intricate double bows as I'm studying my math final. I know I must do well in order to receive a "C" letter grade. In the last half of this semester I've pulled myself up from and "F" in math- it is by far my worst subject- math is a language I'm not capable of learning...
For the first time in the last three years my french teacher has finally warmed up to me, I received an "A" on my 15 sentence reply (in french) to a news report on Veils covering faces...My professor actually told me that I'd do well if I ever wanted to major in the french language and she would be more than willing to help me fix the 15 sentences into a writing sample for a degree in it. I of course told her politely my preference was English and writing. But what an accomplishment for me!
This weekend holds all my grades in fine lines....what happens next depends on my writing ability in my last two classes: Horror literature and Scottish Literature.
Horror, I must complete my 6 page film review of "Paranormal Activity" and then on Monday I will receive my take home writing assignments for my Final.
In Scottish literature I must finish my 10 page critical review of "Poor things" By Alasdair Gray connecting it with my class learning for my final grade. This also happens to be a paper I plan on sending in as my writing sample for my Masters Degree in English which will start this Summer as long as I can get all three letters of recommendation, the application, the fees, and my writing sample in before February. They are only picking 15 people to Participate in this Master program. I also have to maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for this semester and next semester in order to be accepted for this program.
And Finally I have to do my Final revisions for my short story publication.
Is it me or is everything happening so fast?
Please forgive me as I slack horribly on my blogging and commenting.

You need sleep and a lot more hours in the day. :)
Good luck with the grade point average and congratulations on the excellent work and commendations you have received, so far. :)
Oh wow!!!! So many things to do so little time!! But you can do all this!! I am sending you extra extra support hugs for maths because that too is my worst ever - my WORST - ever in this planet - ever - subject!!! SO GOOD LUCK!!!! You can do crack the fiendish maths code!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS with your French grade and such praise from your teacher!! Oh wow!!!! Good for you!!

All the best with your revisions!!!! I'm very excited for you - these are all good and positive and very exciting events happening for you!!!Yay! take care
x
I'm overwhelmed just reading about all of your assignments!
You can do it!
Congrats on the C!
I say that in earnest. I'm a Chemical Engineer, so I always had an easy time with math, and in fact I didn't have trouble with many subjects.
Except Physical Chemistry.
See, that's not chemistry. Not at all. It's mathematical modeling of the chemical process, and that little diddy didn't click with me the first time I took P-Chem. (Note I said "first" time...)
I studied for P-Chem like I studied for the other chemistries -- Organic, Inorganic -- and by mid-semester it was obvious I could not pull off a passing grade. I didn't attend my final, because I needed something on the order of a 145% grade to hit a C-average.
I loved P-Chem so much I took it twice... it's the only F I've ever received in the history of forever, elementary-middle-high school included, and in fact those tests are only a handful of tests I've ever flunked.
Anyway. Congrats on the C. I understand struggling!
And I understand busy busy. Hang in there.

Elaine~ More hours in a day would be fantastic and sleep is highly overrated (at least that's what I keep telling myself )
Old Kitty~ Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words, I do appreciate them. And you are right most of it is good positive things happening. :)
Alex~Thank you so very much for the encouragement!
Eric~I could not even imagine doing any of your classes- I took chemistry last summer and if I thought Math was hard- chemistry was by far much harder LOL
PS: Summer, "hard" is relative. I would not have done well with French, can't even imagine getting an A in that class, and if you want to see me flounder and drool, send me to an accounting class (which is inarguably NOT math).
We all have that weak heel...

Hi,
What can say, but: Good Luck!

Man, you definitely are an achiever. Let me put on my cheer leading outfit and dust off my pompoms :) You go girl!
BTW, I never could and still cannot add a+b/c and get F :D
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
PS when you GET your masters, will you be a "Master Fairy?"
Jules~ LOL I wish, Mastery Fairy would be a thrilling move, but No my Master's will be in English.
Oh, wow you are a busy lady. I hope school wraps well for you and good job on turning the elusive French teacher.
Do you blogfest. Check out mine happening dec 12-18, there's a prize. The fest if for query letters, yes those nasty little thiings we all hate equally.

Oh man I'm feeling you! I'm so excited that it's almost over though, I can't help but be happy.
Scottish Lit??? Lucky!!! That class sounds so fun! Medieval British Lit was probably the closest fun class I have comparable to that one.
I hope your studying turns out alright! I'll be lucky enough to close out the semester with A's and B's. So I'm happy about that. it's almost over!!!
I admire you for taking a disappointing grade and transforming it to acceptable with hard work. What a goal. Good luck. And just a note about the French. I don't speak or write it, but French is the language in my high fantasy and sometimes I have to PAY as equals $$ for someone to help with a sentence written in French. As it turns out, Babel Fish isn't all that accurate. Offer your services for $$.

Good luck! That's a lot, but I know you can do it!
Good luck with everything, Summer. It does all hit at once. Murphy's Law and all. But soon it'll be over, and the best class is one that's over. A 'C' in math is also perfectly respectable. I'm sure you'll do okay.
That's of lot of important writing you have going on. Take a deep breath and plunge in. You'll do fine.
I was laughing so hard at the pictures, I had a tough time reading. Darn those tears!
Good luck with your exams!
I totally know how you feel! I'm in the middle of a sociology class that is killing me! My finals aren't until January in that class. Good luck on all the work! You can do it Summer!
Oh that is soooo cute! My cat keeps jumping on my lap as I type.
Glad you've joined my blogfest. Have written a clarification of what's required at http://scribbleandedit.blogspot.com/2010/12/through-keyhole-blogfest.html linkey now open until Sat 11thn Dec :O)x
WOW! That's good stuff.
And love the photos...
That's a lot of studying, girl! I remember them days. But it does keep you sharp. *HUGS* I know you can do it. You're smart and brilliant and sharp.
It's okay, we still luv ya! ;) (Real life always comes first!)

Stay sane! I understand about math. I was fortunate enough to have a teacher who was also a high school teacher.
Good luck with everything!
Good luck with that Maths Summer.
we are all rooting for you!
:Dom
Wow! You have a lot going on - crazy! Good luck with everything. I'm rubbish at math, too.
I love the bunny pic. I don't know how you blog and go to school at the same time, especially when you're facing finals. I hope all goes well. :)
I like the pictures. As they say in Frenchland, "Je me rend!"
Wow! Rock on, sister! You've got it going on. Take a break and we'll see you back in a few. Holding down the fort! :)
