If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

D- Dreaming inspired

I tend to have horrible nightmares. My children are drowned in front of me or their throats are slit from some unknown source while I am holding them. I have even dreamed about houses, I later found out existed. Dreams are so vivid sometimes it's difficult to tell them apart from reality right when I wake up.
They are also an amazing source for inspiration. Your dreams, a friends dreams, even your child's dreams can spark a story idea. If you are not in the habit of writing them down- consider doing so for a month and see what comes of it.

Interesting fact: "The original meaning of the word "nightmare"  was a female spirit who besets people at night while they sleep."

What did you dream about last?

I have similar nightmares about my kids too. Must be a mom thing. It's horrible. Didn't know the trivia about the origin of the word nightmare though, that's really interesting. (:

I don't have nightmares very often (thank goodness) but I do have some pretty vivid dreams sometimes. They are really good inspiration!

Last night, I don't remember so well, but I do remember most of my dreams, in fact, my Kitsune series is based on a dream I had several years ago.

Those Mom nightmares sound terrible. Those nightmares where I am taking a test in school and suddenly realize I am naked are no fun ... but only embarassing! LOL.

gosh that's awful. I keep having not nightmares, but intense love affairs in my dreams; well, maybe they're not really affairs, as in the dreams I'm actually single, not married for 13 years...oh, nevermind. I'm only getting myself into trouble.

I love the funfact about Nightmares - even though i can't stand having them because i always worry they're a sign of something to come.

The last dream I remember was doing a scratch off lottery ticket. I kept getting #5 and winning more and more money. Alas, I woke up.

Summer, what are you reading before you go to sleep?
Great post--I wonder how many novels originated from a dream (I think Twilight did).

game of thrones and lists.

My dreams usually involve monsters and haunted houses. Though I don't consider them nightmares, because I've grown used to them and they're a rich source of writing material!

Hi Summer .. perhaps that's why I never had kids?! Ghastly dreams to have - yet Elise says she has similar ..

No thank you .. sometimes I layer things that exist and form part of my life - but usually I manage without dreaming ...

Cheers Hilary
