If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has many meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric. ~Summer Ross

A lapsed wiccan and handsome priest...

"Dammit straight to hell, I was being sacrificed again."

This is the first line in Maggie Shayne's novel Mark of the Witch book one of three. Shayne's leading lady is a feisty heroine named Indira who has to make a huge decision- save the human realm according to father Dom or save the demon trapped inside a portal.

The plot is fascinating. It takes the reader on many twists and turns that were unexpected and some that were obvious. I won't be putting any spoilers in this review. The choice Indira has to make is one readers could ask themselves 'what would I do in her situation' and I think that's what makes a plot well constructed.
The subplot plays a very distinct background role, it's more hinted at than anything else.

There is great tension between the leading female and leading male. And brilliant dialogue.

She closes up all the loose ends, for the most part yet leaves it open for the second book as well.
I give it four fairies.

The only reason I did not give this book a five was because the ending felt rushed to me. Otherwise if you like a bit of a mystery and some witchy magic- I'm sure you'll enjoy this book.

Does it sound interesting?

Hey, this DOES sound interesting! Sacrificed AGAIN? :D

Great stuff. I'm adding this one to the pile for sure!

Currently I'm reading the ARC for Karen Hooper's "Taking Back Eternity," and it's awesome. Also, Susan's Debt Collector #8. FAB.

Thanks, Summer! ((hugs))
