A picture is worth a thousand words, and while I understand my six year old did not want her "pretend" monkey to get away while he was asleep- this somehow still seems wrong!
Conversation with my friend goes like this as we are about to stumble upon the poor monkey tied up in my living room to my coffee table:
"Kayla, likes animals, she just doesn't realize the right way to treat them." I say picking up toys.
"But she gets along great with my dogs, adores them and I bet she'll make a good pet person" my friend comments.
"I'm serious" I say walking around the couch, "she can be very cruel, and she doesn't even realize it"
and then we stumble upon the helpless monkey. "See thats exactly what I mean- she loves this monkey, sleeps with it, adores it, and look what she does to it."
We both laugh, I untie the monkey with a renewed thought that I'll have a discussion with my youngest daughter...
